Book One - Pit Fighter
Victor can’t wait to get the hell out of high school, go to the local community college on a sports scholarship, and start his own life. But that’s all put on hold when he enters his abuela’s house and somehow ends up stepping into a world unlike anything he’s ever known, filled with fantastical meta-humans, walking, talking devils, and other creatures one usually needs some serious pharmaceuticals to see.
Fanwath is no dream, though. In fact, it’s a nightmare. Sold into slavery as a pit fighter, Victor quickly learns his new home is controlled by the “System,” and the only way to get ahead is to fight, kill, and collect the precious “Energy,” that means the difference between a long life and an early grave. And according to his stats, Victor’s starting out at a solid zero.
Lucky for him, no one in this world has ever met his kind before—which means they have no idea what he’s really capable of. But they’re about to find out . . .
Book Two - Dungeon Delver
Suddenly transported to the land of Fanwath, Victor had a hard time adapting to a reality controlled by an omniscient “System” that rewarded strength, skill, and savagery with increased “Energy,” which was necessary if one wished to continue breathing. Then, after some truly surprising success as a gladiator-slave, the teenager ended up doomed to a life in the brutal mines along with a menagerie of fantastical beings possessing even worse luck than him.
But everything changes when Victor finds a way out—or rather, down. With the aid of a magical portal, he soon finds himself in a fabled subterranean dungeon-labyrinth, where his wits and combat prowess are the only things keeping him alive. OK, so he’s found a companion in the strangely alluring and witty Shadeni warrior-woman Thayla, as well as an amulet housing a guiding spirit named Gorz. But even they won’t be able to help him now.
Because there are things lurking in the depths more deadly than Victor can possibly imagine. And if he ever does manage to escape the darkness, some very powerful—and vengeful—nobles will do anything to send him back underground. About six feet underground, to be precise . . .
Book Three - Spirit Hunter
Victor has seen better days. He just barely survived a savage showdown with the lethal warrior woman Rellia, which left her minus a foot and apparently cost him the life essence of his trusted magical axe, Lifedrinker. Then, much to Victor’s surprise, Rellia asks him to visit her. And she does so not as an enemy but as an honorable opponent who owes him for sparing her life. Rellia wishes for Victor’s aid in claiming her family’s land stake in a dangerous, far-off realm. In return, he’ll receive his own land and a place among the elite.
But first, Victor must become even more powerful than he already is. To that end, he ventures into the wilderness, battling foes of every conceivable stripe in both the mortal and the spiritual realms in a never-ending storm of blood, and eventually uncovers a shocking truth. It turns out he didn’t simply stumble into the world of Fanwath. He was deliberately brought there by a cabal of magic users with their own sinister plans.
Now, Victor must find the cabal, learn why they stole his former life away from him—and make them seriously regret it . . .
Book Four - Titan Blood
When young Victor Sandoval was snatched from his abuela’s home and thrust into a brutal existence as a pit fighter in the land of Fanwath, it took a long time—and a heck of a lot of acquired skills and levels—to survive and become a formidable warrior with anger issues to spare. And now he seems to be right back at the bottom of the barrel.
Heaved through a portal while defeating a particularly obnoxious pyromancer, Victor and his companion, Valla, find themselves on a new planet populated by serpentines, insectoids, and giants so far beyond the pair in might and experience as to be nigh invulnerable. If the warriors are to withstand this dangerous realm, they’ll have to endure countless tribulations to build up their own strength.
Once again, Victor must hack and hew his way to victory in the arena for a devious warlord, while Valla must honor an unwanted duel against a seemingly unbeatable opponent. And both will have to score more kills, collect more treasure, and face more horrors beyond their wildest imagination if they ever hope to return to Fanwath . . .
Book Five - Battlemaster
It feels like a lifetime ago that the young, irreverent Victor Sandoval was pulled from Earth into an existence of battle and brutality in a mystifyingly magical world where the more one fights, kills, and survives, the greater their levels, class, skills, and attributes. And right now, things are pretty freaking great for Victor.
After causing the usual amount of mayhem elsewhere, he and his warrior-maiden ally, Valla, have finally taken a portal back to Fanwath—loaded up with more powers and treasure than they know what to do with. But stumbling upon Fainhallow, a school for studying the art of magic, Victor uncovers a revelation that shakes him to his very core.
And such personal chaos couldn’t come at a worse time. Because the advances Victor has made are pushing him to the brink of losing all control, awakening hidden aspects of his spirit and threatening to transform him into something very dark and very, very deadly. But then again, on Fanwath the deadlier you are now, the more alive you’re bound to be later . . .
